mary cairncross cafe

Mary Cairncross Cafe is one of those ideal locations. Set in the hinterlands of Maleny this cafe offers stunning views out across Mount Beerwha and to the coast line. I would imagine this cafe is thriving with visitors on a weekend, however our visit was a weekday which worked quite well.

Breakfast was the order of pickings on this sunny winters morning, and the menu at Mary Cairncross offers plenty to choose from. There is lovely focus on vegetarian fare, with meals such as the Big Vegetarian Breakfast and Mushrooms and Goats Cheese on Sourdough with Balsamic.  The cafe offers alternatives for gluten free and the staff were more than willing to modify the menu were needed for some hungry tummies.

For instance, the Big Vego Breakfast pictured here usually comes with sweet potato cooked in butter and eggs, however this meal was changed to include grilled eggplant instead of sweet potato and smoked salmon instead of eggs. We also enjoyed the BLT served with homemade mayonnaise and free range bacon. One, gluten free, the other on turkish bread.

Drinks were also fabulous with a large range of fresh juice options. Its not often you have passionfruit on a juicing list so there was some happy faces at our table. I also enjoyed a dandelion tea, which was served in its own pot with a side of soy milk and honey. Delish!

I would recommend a visit to Mary Cairncross if you live locally, or even if you are looking for that weekend escape breaky. The service was fantastic and the staff were more than accommodating for menu alternations. The food was tasty, fresh, free range and made even better by the views around us.
